Vogue Modern & Vogue Redux

Hi, here is a web-exclusive pattern at Vogue.com. The pattern is only $3.99 which is a good bargain. And depending upon your choice of fabric, it can go young and modern, or elegant and out on the town. Nice pattern for the price, I plan to purchase this soon before the sale ends!

Here on the left is a 1947 Vogue redux pattern that is lovely. The crisscross bodice that is pleated and slants is very modern, along with the dropped waist. Still beautiful after all these years! Do you like these designs?

Betsy Celebration & Kenmore 1050 Folklore

I celebrate Betsy Johnson yet again! The dress to the left is very similar to project dresses that were created on the last Project Runway series by Uli.

A classic style is timeless yet contemporary at the same time.

To the left are several Prairie dresses and hats designed by Betsy Johnson. I thought these were pretty and reminiscent of the 70's. I was a bridesmaid in several weddings and the hats we wore were similar to those in the picture on the right in this photo, with large brims and a ribbon trim in the center.
I found this ad for a sewing machine that I purchased at a thrift store a couple of years ago for $12.00. I still need a plug for it, but I know it is very popular due to it's light weight and sturdy mechanics.
Here is a photo of the actual machine itself along with the attachments, etc. The attachment box is detachable from underneath the needle plate area. Pretty cool feature for the forgetful types such as myself.

Machine, Maxi, and Paris Modern

Another example of design meeting manufacturing in a vintage item. This is a side view of an older children's sewing machine. I believe it must be one of the handcrank models from way earlier in the last century. Nevertheless it is gorgeous...
I found this pattern for a Maxi tank dress. I think it is even cuter than the maxi skirts that have been all the rage for the last year. Of course you have to be dieting alot or using certain undergarments to provide the illusion of thinness that could pull off this look. Maybe if the fabric was a knit but not a very clingy knit I may try to make this one. First I need to find the right fabric...
This Vogue pattern by Guy Larouche is the bomb, don't you think? Modern jacket with what appear to be snap enclosures. On Marcy Tilton's website, she states that when she was in Paris the last time, she saw over-sized snaps being used on many different tops. I'm guessing this jacket was made in a very light-weight wool fabric. Beautiful, futuristic look. If only I had the skills to make this lovely creature, but at this point in time I do not.

Today while perusing the web I discovered these photos of 2 different White Trendle Sewing Machines. Supposedly the machine on the left was from the 1890's. The photo on top has absolutely beautiful craftmanship. These older machines were works of art! I will try to find some photos of my all-time favorite antique sewing machine for you, the Singer Red-Eye. Enjoy!!!

Greetings, just found the CUTEST pattern while checking out the Projects posted at BurdaStyle.com. This top is called the Tova and the pattern is from Wiksten.com. Don't you just adore this top??? Like the Joker said in the Batman movie, so many (I'm substituting here) patterns, so little time!!!

Here is a picture of clothing designed by Betsy Johnson for Butterick patterns, from an ad in Seventeen mag circa 70"s. I just love EVERYTHING she ever designed, she is a GENIUS!!!

I only WISH I would have bought up every single pattern of hers in multiple sizes in anticipation of how very gifted this lady was even then, and how her styles would definitely be of impact even into the future, circa 21st century!!!
Just beautiful, hope you enjoy these pictures and her designs as much as I do!

This is another vintage pattern that I found that is also by a Young Designer Deanna Littell. She also made patterns for Butterick along with Betsy Johnson, Mary Quant, and others. Isn't the pocket detail on the coat beautiful???

If you want to find many FREE great patterns, visit www.fabrics.com. They have a great variety of absolutely FREE patterns that are totally great and can be printed at home. Even tho it is a pain in the ass to print them out, cut and tape, you can save lots of money and get lots of great looks. I'm currently working on a jacket that I'll post when completed. It is made out of fleece and I am using up my fleece scrap pile to complete the jacket.

Welcome back, this Betsy Johnson pattern is one that I have been coveting for a number of years. Apparently it is very hard to find, as the lowest price I have seen it selling for is $30.00. Maybe one day I will go ahead and splurge and just get it! Do you like this one as well? Betsy is genius in design, her design elements are just as fresh and trendy today as they were over 40 years ago.

Here is another Butterick Young Designer pattern by designer Mary Quant that I just found today at FuzzieLizzies.com. She has GREAT pictures of vintage patterns along with commentary about each designer. Thank you for posting this great pattern, that is also fresh and modern even tho it's so vintage.

Still hoping someone will want to make the Vogue dress offered as a free pattern for the first available person to request same. Just e-mail me at BetsyAlli@gmail.com if you are interested in my project.

This metal piece is from a Singer 301 Sewing Machine. I thought it was beautiful.

Vogue Paris Original Jean Patou #2938- in Size 8 (see picture on the right for measurement analysis)

I will send this pattern for free to the first person to respond as long as you promise to send me pictures of the finished garment that you have sewn, and a picture of you in the garment you have created. This is a cute dress pattern from the 70's, and while I watched last week's Project Runway, I couldn't help but notice the similarity between a dress created by Josh and this pattern. Not an exact match, but somewhat close.

Have a nice January, I'll try to post again soon, hope to hear from some of you!!! Share your favorite designer info with me and we can chat about this on this blog.
